Code of Practice

Overview - from compliance to excellence

This workshop on the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students summarises the changes in the 2016 Code of Practice and how these affect signatories. It runs 9.30-2.30 with a 30 minute lunch break.

It suits staff who have direct or indirect responsibility for the Code, because NZQA are expecting signatories to shift your focus onto outcomes instead of compliance. The intended outcomes of this workshop are that participants can

1. List the key pastoral care roles in your organisation 24/7 across the international student journey

2. Clarify how you implement the Code in your job

3. Identify Critical Incident Planning resources and processes

4. Explain NZQA’s monitoring and review expectations for signatories.

The workshop includes an overview of the Code documentation, summary of responsibilities and valuable insights on where potential pitfalls are.

Previous participants have found the workshop very practical and something of a wake up call: "Great to give me the tools and confidence", "very informative", "systemic and useful", "tailored to the point" and "inspiring". Please contact us for more info and directions.
