Programme Approval

Programmes of study link to qualifications on the NZQF, and are always at least 40 credits. (Qualifications at Level 1-6 are only listed by NZQA, but usually developed by others, with NZQA's approval beforehand.)

Programme design needs all the components and assessments to be closely aligned with the programme’s learning outcomes, which are mapped to the graduate profile outcomes in the qualification.
A new programme needs to be approved by NZQA before you get accreditation to offer the programme, but these usually happen at the same time. And before submitting your application you need to document the engagement you had with stakeholders, and get endorsement from the relevant Workforce Development Council.
Maintaining programme accreditation requires methodical reviews by the PTE of the programme’s design and delivery to ensue it is fit for purpose, and meeting stakeholder needs.
